Question Question for US toyota dealers on prius

Hi,

I'm a US citizen living in Canada on a perm residence. I am seriously looking at buying a Prius, but the price differance between Canadian and US dealers is making me wince.

I've read up alot on all the arguements and information about Toyota and the import problems; so we won't get into that.

All I want to know is...as a US citizen living in Canada, *CAN* I purchase a Prius from a US dealer without all the hassle??

No the us dealers close to the border will not sell to you if they believe you are going to take it to Canada . There are still some friendly Toyota dealer in the southern us though I found one Precision toyota of tucson . I dealt with the fleet manager .

Thanks for the reply, but it's become a mute point I guess. I can't get the Canadian Federal rebate on a US bought Prius anyway. And $2,000CAD will pay for insurance and gas for awhile.

Btw, I posted in the rebate forum that Toyota Canada has lowered the Prius base price by $1,900CAD and it's not reflected online yet. I visited a dealership today for a test drive. They quoted me $27,600CAD on the base model and $30,630CAD on the Special Edition Premium 2nd tier model with Vehicle Stability Control(VSC).
