Default New Prius with small problems

I'm new to this forum. My 1st Toyota was a 98 Tacoma SR5 which I still own. It has been completely trouble free for 175,000km.

This good experience encouraged me to buy my new 05 Prius (built in Oct.) It was picked up 6 days ago and I have 1000km on it already. Getting 4.9 litres per 100km mileage right out of the box!! I'm very happy with it but I have two small problems. On driving on the freeway for 30 min. the heater seems to cut out. The outside temp is getting cool here in BC at around 7 deg.C and my interior setting set around 22 deg C. The problem seems to persist regardless of whether the climate control is set to auto or manual. I have the outside vents open so I feel the cool air coming through when the heat slows down. When I raise the temp the heat comes back again. Is this normal for the climate control to do this?

The other problem is with FM reception which is a bit thin compared to my Tacoma. Some strong stations get crackly in the city. I checked the antenna and it seems tight.

I hope I was not too fast to pick up on the 05 when the 06's are arriving in Dec. or Jan. I've just read there are a few changes. The buyers remorse always disappears when I get behind the wheel..

It sounds like you have it set to AUTO and this sounds normal to me

maybe I am not understanding the heat problem, could you explain it more?
Thanx
