PriusGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Prius.
This is a discussion thread titled "Toyota Prius under fire for patent infringement", within the Prius forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
I was perusing Slashdot today and came across a new article on a pending patent infringement lawsuit against Toyota regarding the hybrid technology they're using in the Prius.
Re: Toyota Prius under fire for patent infringement
That LAW SUIT is over 3 years old and TOYOTA SETTLED OUT OF COURT.
They paid thru the nose, but in the long run TOYOTA WON. They still make the prius/highlander and camry soon and tundra coming.
Toyota will prevail always. They have the most money, and best lawyers. They may have to grease a few palms along the way, but what MAJOR CORP doesn't?
Hybrids from TOYOTA ARE HERE TO STAY.
I love HYBRIDS.

Although, the suit lists a date of September 12, 2005, which isn't 3 years ago.
I asked the factory rep yesterday about a law suit, he said someone is always trying to sue TOYOTA. Most of them usually settle out of court..go figure. He said the electric engine dual motor suit was settled a while back.
This might be something new, but I know Toyota will prevail.

They're just jealous because Toyota has the most know-how when it comes to hybrids.

Your right on the money.
The original HONDA hybrid was Toyotas first concept that got rejected , so honda bought it.
Now, the FORD ESCAPE hybrid is a 1st generation prius in disguise.
Ford bought the hybrid technology but no the computer software, they told toyota their engineers would make it work. HA HA HA
Ford ended up buying the rights to use the TOYOTA software, cause their engineers couldnt do it. Go figure.
No matter what anyone says.
TOYOTA ROCKS!! When it comes to Hybrids. I love to work on them.

Re: Toyota Prius under fire for patent infringement
Have you heard, and I assume you have since it's on every Ford commercial out there, where the announcer utters the words "Leader in initial quality"? How long is this "Initial" quality counter they're using and does it end once you drive it off the lot?
