Default 2004 Prius Nav System Operation While In Motion

The fact that most of the destination screen features are not available when the car is in motion has irritated me to no end for more than two years now. Being pretty tight with money, I have not wanted to buy the aftermarket device that would allow me to set a destination while in motion. Through these forums and the help of Vincent, it is now possible for me to do so.

I have used the following procedure on my 2004 Prius (Option Package 9) so I don't know if it will work on others. If not, some modification of the procedure may work.

After starting the system, and pressing the "I Agree" button, press the following buttons/areas:

Menu
Volume
Speaker Icon
Bottom left (no icon)
Speaker Icon
Bottom left (no icon)
Override - hold until the beep
Back
OK or Map

Then tell your passenger that she/he is now the official navigator!

Happy Destinations!

There are a bunch of other interesting options on that "Service" screen where the "Override" button is, that you can look at but probably should not change!

Many thanks to Vincint for providing the lead from another forum that was the basis for this routine.

Has anyone come up with a similar override for the 2006 Prius??
