Post 2006 Toyota Prius - Navigation System

The morning of Thursday, June 8, 2006 I drove to work with my navigation system in working order, however, when it was time for me to leave from work to go home, my navigation system did not come on. *The screen is completely black. I still have use to all functions on my steering wheel, that plays my CD, Radio, Air Condition, etc.

Why is it that when you look in the Navigation System Manual, it has nothing there to help you troubleshoot your system?

I guess once it's dead you can't bring it back - ONLY THE DEALER CAN

Does anyone know what causes this to happen? How to prevent it from happening again? I've only had my Prius for four months. Of course, I'm going to take my Prius to the dealer, but I want to know if anyone had this problem happen to them and if so, what explanation were you given.
I want to seem knowledgeable to the facts when I talk to them, just in case!

Never heard of this problem either here, or over at PriusChat.com.

The 06 Prius Navi unit is located under the driver's seat. All connecting cables can be seen by looking at the unit from the front of the seat. Try checking to see if any of the cables are loose or disconnected before you visit your dealer.

Hope this helps; good luck.

The 04's and 05's had an issue with the NAV system going wacko and doing some very weird things. It is possible that the HEAD UNIT (IN DASH) has an internal malfunction. Your 06 should still be under warranty. I would recommend taking it to the dealer and let them pull some diagnostics on it and see what they find.
