Thanks for posting this, very helpful. Also, one other quick question. For instance, I have rep power of 2. From reading your post, I see that I started off with rep power of 1 just for joining, right? So how do I know who or where I got the second rep power rating? I went to the bottom of my user control panel and tried to find where details were for rep power (as stated in the FAQ's) - but how do you know which post or who gave you rep power?

Click on your User CP. You will see the rep points break down on the front page. It will tell you who gave them to you and for what posts.

You got the second Rep Power point on January 1, 2009 (your join date anniversary). For every year you are active, you gain 1 Rep Power point. It's all in the other sticky. FAQ: Rep Power & Reputation Points explained

Thanks for asking. Let me know if you have any other forum trivia

So we go from junior member to veteran member? Is there no regular member?
And does the off topic posts count? A lot of people may be getting post counts for things that should be in PMs or chat

Yes off-topic posts count. Valuable stuff posted over there, and you can't discriminate by forum. Of course I am biased.

Oh, and the green boxes and the reps points are not only loosely replated right?

For instance, if I understand this right....
You get a rep point for each anniversary and per 1000 posts etc. You also get a rep point when you hit certain benchmark when receiving positive reps from someone else.

BUT

The green boxes are based solely upon the reputation points that others give you.

Meaning that...you could have been on here since year 2000, and have 9 reps points, but because you didn't contribute much, the rep points that others give you, and as a result, your green boxes, are low...only at one. Or possibly yellow or red, depending on infractions.

Conversely, If you have been here since only 2007, and you have over 4k posts, and enough rep points from others to gain 9 rep points of your own, AND 3 little green boxes...

...this can in essence say that while the more senior member has been here a while, he has not contributed as much, and that since the younger member's joining the site, he has contributed greatly and others have recognized him for it.

Is all of that clear? Did I get that right Andy?

The force is strong in this one.

Rep Power represents Reputation points + Tenure
Green Boxes represent your positive feedback

GREEN is a positive from a member with Rep Power > 0.
GRAY is a negative from a member with Rep Power > 0, or a positive from a member with Rep Power ≤ 0.

So I guess gray don't count, since regular members can't give negative points?
And also if member with 0 rep points, how many points do I get (added or removed?)
