RAV4General discussion forum for the Toyota RAV4.
This is a discussion thread titled "Rav4 egr valve clean", within the RAV4 forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
The ck engine light came on about a week ago. I stopped at a shop that turned it off.
They said it was insufficiant EGR flow.
We checked and found no hoses off or cracked.
They said it may be a flake of carbon that blew out.
About 6 days of driving later it came back on.
Does this length of time mean the vacuum dashpot does not have a leak?
What is the best way to clean it?
Do I clean it with spray carb cleaner?
How do I turn the ck. eng. light off?
I do not have a code reader.
Where can I get one on a budget?
you should get an egr vsv and clean the carbon out of the valve itself, possible you will need a valve, if you pull the EFI fuse for 5 minutes it will clear the light
Thanks Defender,
I cleaned the egr valve itself ( not much carbon).
A tech told me today to change the vacuum switching valve(and then I read your reply)
I am looking for a good online discount Toyota parts outlet.
Do ya'll have any recomendations?
Thanks,
