Default program new tire pressure sensor 06 RAV4

The tire dealer had to buy me a new tire pressure sensor after breaking the old one while installing a tire. It appears it needs to be reprogramed. Any idea whats involved with that and if the Dealer has to do it? There is no obvious reset button.

Yes, it must be be recalibrated to the veihcles ECM using the ID number referenced on the "new" TPMS sensor itself. Only the Dealer can do this using the Toyota factory Scan tool. This ID number is located on the valve sensor itself and maybe in accompanying documentation. If yu can't find this number on any paperwork, The tire must be removed again and the sensor will have the Id # written on the insde of the tire on this sensor. The Toyota Scan Tool assigns the ID# of the New Tire's Valve Sensor to the Cars ECM so it can read its tire PSI.Every valve sensor has this unique ID #.Your Tire dealer Must eat this cost as well.LT
BTW,Federal law mandates that any tire dealer must not interfere with the operation of the TPMS system. It seems that they did screw it up and must own up to it . Every last dollar it would cost them. Don't let this go.

Thanks for the help. Neither the Toyota parts guy or the tire dealer clued me in on the reprogramming need. I may have difficulties going back to the tire dealer a second time for more $$.

A Parts guy IS NOT a Service TECH.

Get a quote in writing for the TPMS service calibration from any REAL Dealer. Then Submit it to the tire shop.

Or suck it up and pay out of your own pocket. (Approx$200) or just live with a faulty TPMS sustem. Yu only have Two(2) options here ...yu choose for yourself. Fix it or not.

No reasonable person would accept damage without compensation. The fact that the tire shop replaced the Sensor valve and acknwledged responsibility for the damaged one ensures that the tire shop must also follow through with the calibration of that New Sensor.. (Dealer Only) Right.

I gave you straight information on your Direct Type TPMS air valve and the ONLY way to solve it. Or just leave things alone and wait and see.

Good luck

Are yu getting a TPMS system light on your dash indicating a low tire???

YU never spoke about it.

What does your owners manual stipulate. Can yu quote anything from this

manual?

Yu are not telling us much here except that yu got screwed by a Tire Dealer!
Yu seem confused about the Toy.Dealer and seem afraid to approach your Tire Shop. Do yu have any more to add? This is really simple stuff.

I'm missing something here.
