Default Re: V6 Maintenance

We just got our 08 Rav4 V-6 a couple of weeks ago, and I can't find anything about scheduled valve adjustments or the timing belt. (love that motor, jeez it's strong)
Plugs are 120 k and transmission fluid is drain and fill at 30k if you tow. If not, leave it alone till 100k (I think).
Anybody got any ideas on the valve adj and timing belt for the V-6?

Required maintenance on the RAV4 is as follows: Engine Oil and Filter replacement every 5k or six months, engine and cabin air filter replacement every 30k or three years, initial engine coolant replacement at 100k or ten years and spark plug replacement at 120k or 12 years.

The rear differential and transfer case oils need to be replaced every 30k or three years only if the vehicle is used for towing. Also, the front differential oil and transmission oil need to be replaced at 60k or six years if the vehicle is used for towing. Otherwise, the transmission fluid should be inspected every 30k and replaced on an as-needed basis (if fluid shows discoloration, sediment or unusual odor).

Thanks for the info,
Anything on the timing belt replacement? Wondering if it's a belt or a chain.

Sorry, I meant transmission.

Not sure what the official criteria is for differential and transfer case fluids, but I'd assume that any signs of water contamination or significant metal contamination would warrant a fluid change.

Exclamation Re: V6 Maintenance

you "adjust" the valves by doing a lot of oil changes....keeps the wear
to a min. put your money in fluids and filters. remember this: have
you ever heard someone tell you that you damaged the engine by
changing the oil too much? yspert
