RAV4General discussion forum for the Toyota RAV4.
This is a discussion thread titled "New rav 4's are pretty quick.", within the RAV4 forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
My buddy got his wife a new rav 4 (v6) and he said it was pretty quick and the salesman told him it was the 2nd fastest suv (behind the porche) and it runs 13's. As soon as he told me that, I knew he was lied to. So i asked him to race me. (I don't want to here any crap about racing, I've already heard enough) So we got out on the highway and went from about 0-60, a couple different times. and I only had him by about 1 1/2 car lengths to 60, and I was slowly pullin on him after that. If those things had the same 4.30 and a 6 speed, they would be bad a$$! I was impressed for a rav 4.
My cousin bought a new Rav4 V6 recently, and he is amazed at how quick it is. He has averaged 22 MPG around town since he got it. According to various websites, it will run the quarter in the mid to high 14's. Not the vehicle for me, but great for a small SUV, and it is a Toyota.
yup since i'm the owner of rav4 i have to agree they are really fast and really not bad for fuel consuption.
ooo one more thing there is no speed limiter.
black gts obviously hasn't ridden in the new one's (have you smart guy) because they have reclining rear seats, more rear leg room than the tundra double cab, and almost as much as the CM. They have some pretty good options and for a small family or someone that wants a smaller suv, they are reasonable.

Yes, I have actually. I just don't consider them SUV's. The new ones are superior to the old, true... but still feels like a glorified car.
The Rav 4's are OK, but they feel cheap and light. The doors are very thin, and it just didn't feel solid. They are very light, and have good HP, they are indeed quick. And yes they wil beat most SUV's out there.

The current V6 rav4 is on the old highlander chassis with the camry 3.5l engine and transmission. They are pretty quick and handle ok. The V6 fwd 2wd version actually has an LSD! It does 0-60 in just over 6 seconds.

I bought my wife an 06 RAV4 2wd V6 back in May 06. I can say that it gets up and goes, 0-60 in 6.3 secs. No one believes me when I say it hauls until they get in. It's definitely a sleeper. It's no 4Runner in ride and luxury but it has a ton of room, many standard features, airbags everywhere, it was relatively inexpensive and it averages 21-23 mpg even with my wife driving it. I would recommend it.

Feb 08 Card & Driver pg 52. New rav 4 won the suv challenge against cr-v rogue, outlander, grand vitara, Vue XE, Escape XLT, Tucson, and jeep liberty. They are an overall good S U V.
My wifes 2005 is a tin can. A reliable tin can and better overall than a Subaru, but a tin can at that. The 4 cyl. has all the torque power you'll ever need (and I am a V8 race engine builder). These are not off road suvs, just a jacked up celica all-track. we only paid 17,000 new for a leftover 5 speed 4wd. Wouldnt pay more than that. Would step up to a Highlander if I wanted something bigger - Or a Used Honda Pilot.
