Rav4 dies in reverse only

LIke title says I believe its and 01 or 00 model 4cyl.Mother-in-laws car says that when started put in reverse it died.Next time she put in reverse and hit the gas did fine the rest of the day what kind of problem you guys think it is.Thanks AL

Low idle, clogged fuel injectors, replace air filter, bad gas..................I would look into all those things!
