My son just leased a RAV4 until he is done with med school and I was wondering where that vehicle is manufactured. I posted this in the RAV4 section but they are not very active there and I haven't gotten a response. So please forgive me for posting this here.
This poster was kind enough to post a VIN Decoder for 07 & 08 Toyotas. You didn't mention what year vehicle your son leased, but if it's one of those two you can figure it out. It's also (usually) on the door sill sticker somewhere.

VIN# starts with a J= Japan
VIN# starts with a 2=Canada
window sticker with country of origin might be a giveaway also?
supposed to start production in Canada in 2008 but i guess it would be for the 2009 model?

Ask the seller for the VIN. You can do all the searching you need with that, you probably knew that. But there is really no danger in handing out the VIN. You need the Title# to do any real fraud.
