Default 02 RAV noise when put in gear?

Hey guys! I'm new here and I'm at my end with this SUV! I know Toyotas are good vehichles but dang mine hates me. I bought it new and it hasn't been overly good. The problem I'm having now is when I crank the car and its in neutral its fairly quiet. but when I put it in gear to back out or in drive to leave it makes a terrible noise kinda like a box of rocks. After the car warms up some the noise goes away. My wife drives it more than me so I may have more details later. Its almost like when the car is put in gear its putting something in a bind. Maybe a bad bearing? Tensioner? Why does it go away? Anyway thanks for the help.

Vinny
