Starting problem
it started last week... 2000 rav 4 manual transmission 82,000 miles; went to leave for work at 2:30 pm 60degree day; car started with very low idle; oil light stayed lit for about 30 seconds and made loud pinging noise, checked oil which was fine; let sit for a few hours; went out and started again with low idle; gave it throttle and eventually it worked itself out. Ran OK for one week. This morning went out to start, sounded like it wanted to turn over but wouldn't. no idicator lights lit. no pinging noise. just wouldn't turn over. Finally decided to give to hold gas down while trying to start and eventually it turned over with a big black cloud of smoke. Any ideas??
just realized had same problem in 9/07 and had throttle body cleaned. could this be same issue? why so soon?
