Question 30,0000 mile check-up - Toyota Tundra Forums : Tundra Solutions Forum

I took my 2007 Rav in for it's 30,000 mile check-up and they did an "intake valve and combustion chamber carbon cleaning procedure" at a cost to me of $80. I questioned the need for this and was told Toyota recomends this (it was not listed in my maint. book as needing to be done). I can't imagine that this is needed on these clean burning engines at 30,000 miles. I think I got took!!!! Any ideas on this.
Also they replace a steering rod because of a clunking sound when the wheel was turned. There was a TSB on this. Anyone have the same problem and what part is it?

Toyota doesn't recommend it. It's not in the maintenance guide in your glove box, right? You could ask to see a TSB or other Toyota Corporate documentation that this is recommended. Probably not a terrible idea to do it, but probably not needed this early in the life of the car.

If they replaced the steering part under warranty, then that's actually great service.
