Question Any RAV4 owners?

Just curious if anyone out there knows what type of transmission fluid is compatible with the Type T fluid the owners manual calls for? This stuff is $30 a gallon at the dealer, so I am hoping someone knows what else is ok to use. Thanks for any advice!

Hi there ks!

On the Old TS Forum we use to have a RAV4 Forum. So I think we may have some members onboard that can give you some info.

Hang tight!

Default 01 Rav4 here

KS,

My wife has an 01' Rav4. We haven't gotten around to changin the Tranny fluid yet, but I'm sure there has to be an aftermarket version. I'd be careful though, I'm not sure how that affects the drivetrain warranty, if it is still applicable. So far we love the Rav4, I'd get another one in a heartbeat, wish I could say the same for the Tundra.

We don't have one.......yet. I am purchasing a 2003 for my wife next month. Sure would be nice if the RAV4 owners could occupy a section of the TS site.

Congrats on your RAV4.......I prefer the white also.....my wife has settled on the dark blue. Regardless, I'm sure we will get many years of enjoyment out of it!

Default RAV 4 (wifes) TSB help

There is a TSB regarding the cat.conv. on 2001 rav's but I can't find it. There is tsb about incorrect map of ecu which causes this problem, but trust me it would take an act of congress for my local dealer to put 2+2 together.

I've been to edmunds Town Hall and it's OK, but I need more input. Is there any more RAV4 data available if I join the club?

Unfortunately not very much on this site, and in all honesty I don't know of any others off hand either.

Just did a quick google search and found:

http://www.ravworld.com *edit* Same as rav4world.com

http://www.rav4world.com

http://www.automotiveforums.com

Hope some of these help.

Default 2004 Rav4, 5 speed, moonroof

Just pickud up a 2004 RAV4 for my wife and have not seen her since! She wanted the 5 speed and a moon roof. The three dealers that we went to said that they did not make them with that combination, but the last dealer did a dealer search and said there was actually "one" in the Chicago Lakes? District, which he got for us. He seemed to be truly surprised when he told us about it. It's a blue Sport model. Nice little ride, I didn't really care for the automatic that we test drove, but really like the 5 speed. It was this or an Outback and the Rav4 was couple of thousand less so hey, go for it.

Wondering if anyone else has a 5 speed with a moonroof, or are the dealers giving me a line of crap?

I'll keep my Tundra by the way.

Happy Hauling,

Doug

Post Trany Fluid

It's been a while since I read about it but I think Toyota's T-Fluid is synth and the other guys Mobil - 1 ect. were not compatable yet. I'd check it out before I used anything else. My daughter has been driving my wife's new RAV4, I'm in trouble now, I should have asked for a quantity break.

My '97 Rav4 was a 5-speed with a moonroof. I loved it!

I got 119k miles out of it before it was totalled in a highway accident.

I do think it's difficult to find manual transmission vehicles in something other than a sports car.
