RAV4General discussion forum for the Toyota RAV4.
This is a discussion thread titled "2006 Rav4 info", within the RAV4 forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I second the Question...My wife likes my Tundra so much, she wants a new Rav4. Any word on changes? Honda's Element needs some competition also, any word on a funky Mini Land Cruiser?

I'm hearing the Rav will be changing big time for 2006, it's going to be bigger and more like the Highlander. Which probably means more engine options, etc.
Guess all we can do is wait till the official announce, or someone gets more info and photos.

[quote=ScottWaller]They will be building a Rav4 with a choice of either a 4 cyl or 270 hp 6cyl.QUOTE]
I find it a little hard to believe that they'd put pretty much the strongest engine in the Toyota lineup in the Rav4. Talk about overkill. Anything over 200 HP would make the best selling Highlander redundant, especially considering the new Rav is supposed to be basically the same size. I just don't get it.

I can't remember if it was Motor Trend or some other mag, but I remember reading that the new RAV4 was going to be the quickest Toyota 0-60 when it comes out because of that new monster motor. Poor X-Runner
I could be wrong, but from what we've heard from Toyota here at work, I doubt they're going to stick a 270 hp motor in the RAV. I would expect something around the 220-230 range.
