Default Winshield Wsher Fuild Container R/R

Good morning,

I need some advice. My daughters 2001 Rav 4 2wd was purchased in October 2004 from an individual who was involved in a front end collision. The repairs and structual integity is excellent. The W/W fluid canister was damaged in the front end collision and some bondo was used to repair the crack/split below the neck. I have removved the plastic wheel well, loosened the headlight, removed the front fog light and turn signal all to remove the canister (what a pain!!!).

My question is: the bondo didn't adhere to the plastic and at the 1/3 - 1/2full portion of the container, starts to leak w/w fluid. Should I strip the loose bondo off and use similar/differnt patching material to mend the crack/split? I think the last I checked, the canister was over $110.00. I'd like to see if I could repair the crack before I have my daughter dish out the $$.

What is your advice on mending materials JB Weld?, Bondo again?

Thanks for the help.

Kevin

Personnaly I would put a new one. Especially a family member.
There are 2 diff part numbers depending on the type of bottle.
1 = COLD spec = $51
2 = NON COLD SPEC = $64

I dont know who told you $110, but they were mistaken or trying to rip you off.
Would need your VIN to make sure which one fits your specific needs.
PM me if your interested in the PART#.
Does the one in the vehicle now have a removable screen in it when you open the lid to fill it?
