RAV4General discussion forum for the Toyota RAV4.
This is a discussion thread titled "Help with buying RAV4", within the RAV4 forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
How's going, everyone.
Recently my family was involved into headon and we have lost out Matrix. It sure was a great car.
Now once I've got the check from insurance I am looking into buying a new RAV4.
I have looked at 4cyl limited, also would like to check out a V6. But my question is that every time I want to talk to dealer about price he pulls out the invoice and then offers me to pay about $50 over it. I know for sure that they are still making money just for selling the car. So I would like to know if there is the way to get them to sell the car for the prise less then invoice.
$50 Over Invoice is not a bad deal....
The problem is what invoice are they showing you.
They have a true invoice and an invoice they gladly show customers.
What is MSRP of Vehicle compared to Invoice....Should be around $3000.00
One seldom pays below invoice one way or the other.
If they are offering you $50.00 over invoice that is a no brainer, I would not be able to sell it for that if you are talking about the new 06 Rav4. You can go to edmunds.com though to look at what invoice is on this vehicle. Also so you know these vehicles are going for MSRP or more at some places.
my friend just bought Sport one 2 g's below invoice. but I simply cannot travel 1,500 mi right now. So I know it is possible. Just gotta figure out the way how to make it happen here in WA.

By the way....Sorry about the Accident, I hope everyone is ok.
Are you sure your not talking Sticker?
2 G's under invoice wouldnt happen if you owned the dealership.
Invoice is roughly 2-3 G's under MSRP (Sticker).
I bought my Tundra and got about $300 under invoice w/ a trade.
Either your friend is yankin the ole chain......Or you need to tell us what dealership he buys from....LOL
If MSRP on a 4x4 Sport is around 27- 28 thousand. Invoice is going to be around 24-25 thousand. But these vehicles are too hot and new to be going that far below sticker.
I hope this helps....What's the name of the Toyota Dealership...LOL

I just want to confirm... you friend got a 2006 Rav 4 for $2000 below invoice?? Not a 2005? and not $2000 below MRSP?? Please tell me the dealer it came from.
My dealer here in west Texas would not even discuss reducing the sticker. I guess thats the way it goes. I got it anyway and I am very happy with the car. I own two TOYS and they are the best. However, the people at the dealership knew very little about the 06 RAV. I knew plenty because I read this group.
BTW: I wish there was another way to buy a car other than the current BS+!&?*$ one has to go though. The expirence was horrible even with my financial house being in order.
Hi, Everyone I'm new here, but just bought 2006 RAV4, I just sing a deal $200 over invoice with trade, and they paid for the trade what i wanted, and thats the cheapest deal i found in 60 mile radius, and 6 dealers, also there price difference was about $3,000 betwen each others, Thats some profit!!!
my wife and i just bought a rav4 this week. i was talking to a couple of dealerships and both said that most places aren't giving deals and are selling at or close to full sticker. so my wife went to edmunds.com and entered the info for the vehicle we wanted and asked all nearby dealerships to submit price and availability. some responded that what we wanted wasn't even available yet(v6 model), but one dealership gave us a price of about 1500 under sticker. we bought it. it was nice. saved lots of time running around and haggling. hope this helps. good luck!
Thanks everyone for input. We already got our Rav last month, unfortunately my comp died so I wasn't able to share the news right away.
Ours is Limited with custom leather that we got for 29.6 We are really happy about it, especialy V6 - man this thing is strong
Hi - New to the group - just bought my 4WD Ltd RAV4 (heated/leather seats) yesterday for sticker but they gave me a great deal on my 2000 4Runner LTD trade ($2k more than anyone else). We declined ext. serv. agmnt to study it.
My question is this - is it worth buying the extended service agmnt (platinum - not gold) for 100k miles? Toyota is running special ($880 vs. $1150) and we'll probably keep it till about then. With all the extra sensors and computer stuff - mirror, compass, remote start, etc, it looks like it covers it all. Any advice?
