Give me a real world impression of driving an '06 Rav4 with the 4 cyl. engine

Wife and I are looking at purchasing a Rav4 and I've heard that they have more than enough power the 4 cylinder. Anyone out there have one and can give a real world impression of driving one?

I have a 4x2 sport model with 4cylinder. The four banger want pin you to your seat but I find it has decent pep. I live in Atlanta lots of city and highway driving and find when I hit the accelerator it can move pretty fast. It has about five thousand on it and I am averaging around 24-25 mpg

I have the I-4 and I am coming out of a Tundra V-8. The I-4 has plenty of power for every day driving. I have not gassed my yet and have no real desire to do so as I am looking for MPG, but I have no problems getting to 60-65. Just remember this car has 165 HP with the I-4. Most late 70 and 80 model vehicles had 140 or less with a v-8 350 size motor and they moved those big hunks of metal ok and got horrible fuel mileage.

The I-4 is all anyone needs in my opinion.

We have a 4 banger and feeel that there is no need for the 6. The 4 gets great mileage and is plenty fast for a 4wd suv.. No issue at al for us

Thanks for the great info. Looks like we'll be getting one tomrrow or Saturday. Is there anything I should pay close attention on the Rav 4 prior or shortly after purchasing?

Why buy the four when the mileage of the V6 is so good and the price of the four is so low?

cause the 4 will deliver superior city gas mileage. And we got 30 on the highway with 4wd.

I have an 06 RAV4 with the 2.4L 4-banger and it has a lot of power for a 4 cylinder SUV. I had a Mazda Tribute that I traded in on it and I haven't been sorry that I didn't get the 6 Cyl model. Besides, I am averaging 25-26 MPG and travel 100 miles a day to and from work. My RAV gets about 400 miles on a tankful of gas. I love it!

from what I have seen too.. the 4 does 0-60 in high 8's low 9's. Not fast but plenty quuick for a suv..

We bought an '06 Savannah Metallic I4. Absolutely love it. Very quiet, smooth, and averaging over 25 mpgs with almost 2,000 miles on it. Already installed a clear bra (check out pics under same user id at Rav 4 world.com)
