Default Navigation in Europe Now, What About North America?

We have been looking at the RAV4 (Limited V6 4WD), but it lacks some things I would like. We drive 35,000 to 40,000 miles per year for work and my wife is my navigator, but she does not want to hold a laptop with navigation softeware, so a built-in system would be very helpful. The pile of map books is difficult to use, especially since many places we visit seem to fall on the page boundaries.

The Toyota site referenced below shows that the European model has a Navigation option now (with Bluetooth, something else we need). Does anyone know when it will become available in North America?

Cool Re: Navigation in Europe Now, What About North America?

Why not use a portable unit? I have been using a Garmin for a while now and it is extremely easy to use,( right out of the box) and it is transportable from car to car. Voice prompt compensates for the smaller screen size.

I used to struggle with a laptop, then a PDA, they work fine but a lot of hassle trying to mount it and hid it. Unlike built in systems, they are easy to update, even with topo maps for off road.
