Toyota playing hardball w/me on purchase

So, my wife and I decided we need a RAV4, gonna have a baby in August. Just a 2wd Base with some options, MSRP $22,749. I swear the dealers dont really want to budge at all on these things. A local ad runs for the same RAV mentioned above for $18,977, great price. But, as you know ad vehicles are hard to come by.

Any of you guys/gals have any real world purchase prices for the new 06 RAV?

I just bought $300 UNDER invoice on my 4 cyl Sport. It came loaded in the hard to find Barcelona Red

give TS member Diane a holler, i hear she has worked some really sweet deals for some of our TS members. i think she may be a toyota fleet sales manager or something.

i know she hooked one fella up here with a DC for less than the price i paid for may stepside.

I am by no means an expert in puchasing cars. But what I have learned in the two new vehicles I have purchased in my life is.

Patience

Honestly patience can be your best friend. Remember the dealership in most cases is far more eager to sell the vehicle than you are to purchase it

I'm in Charleston, SC, Rav4s are hard to find in this area, I had to pay MSRP.
Base; V6; 2WD; Super White; 5-spoke Alloy Wheels & a few more options.

Took a month to find the right one.

First, go online and do an "Internet Quote" for dealers in your area. Print them all, then deal. I am waiting on a RAV4 Sport V6 to come in. I did this and ended up paying $250 over dealer invoice + I got some freebies thrown in by the dealer (moonroof wind deflector, front wind deflector). I got the car with the following:

2006 RAV4 Sport V6
Moonroof (SR)
Roll Sensing Airbags (GY)
Tonneau Cover / Net (??)
Upgraded 6 disk / 6 speaker CD changer (CD)
Carpet Floormats / Cargo Mat (CF)
Rear bumper applique (EF?)
front and moon roof wind deflector.

Should arrive between June 15 and June 22. I had a dealer offer to match any offer any other dealer made me. When I told him I had the same offer from another dealer he said he would match plus thrown in a couple of things that I wanted. I found the experience pretty easy.

You're a lucky one, here in NYC no one gives a hoot about matching prices... I went to 3 different dealers in all the boroughs, none can match the invoice price + $50...

I was looking at an 06 sport 4 cyl and it is listed at $26102 MSRP. Invoice is $23545. What would be a reasonable price that I could bargain for?

A dealer here in MD puts prices on the internet. Check out Fitzmall.com. They are listing at invoice or $100 under depending on the trim level.

That's a no bargain price so I would start lower at other dealers here knowing I have a fall back.

Its not where I bought my Sequoia, but its where I go for service.
