Default Optional Tire Size on 2004

My wife's 2004 RAV4 needs new tires. The originals are 215/70R16. I remember there was an option for wider tires and Tirerack shows an optional tire size of 235/60R16. The tires in that size are more on-road focused tires and there's more selection.

I was about to pull the trigger on a new set, but then I noticed that the overall diameter of the 215 is 27.85 inches, while the 235 is 27.1 inches. I realize that's less than 3%, but usually alternate tire sizes are pretty close.

What do you think? Anyone have the 235s?

We're selling the vehicle soon, but my wife drives it all the time right now and she NEEDs new tires. The tires I'm looking at are Kumho Solus ($63) for the 235 vs Yokohama Geolandar for the 215 ($79, but with white lettering that my wife is telling me NO).

I'd look to see if they clear, especially when turned. Seems a bit too wide for the little rav. May cause hydroplaning. I have had pretty good luck with Falken for an inexpensive tire Fabric en Japon, too not Korea. Have had good and BAD Kumho. I might go to a 225/65 but NOT a 60. My wife would not allow me to put a tire that says Kum Ho on the sidewall.
Good luck eitherway - ps try discounttiredirect too!
