RAV4General discussion forum for the Toyota RAV4.
This is a discussion thread titled "Greetings from an old guy", within the RAV4 forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
New to this forum. I just got a 2007 RAV4 and have put on about 300 enjoyable miles. My first Toyota was a 1971 Pickup, a real spartan vehicle but tough. In 1996 we bought a Camry for my wife and so far it's the most trouble free car we've owned. Has anyone figured out all the resets for the newer RAV4s?

1940 was an excellent vintage. Welcome to the Tundra Solutions group.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
What resets are you looking for? There is no reset for the TPMS as in previous models. The maintenance light that comes on every 5000 miles for oil change reminders has the only reset that I'm aware of, reset details are on page 136 of the '06 owner's manual.
If you're referring to programmable features, there aren't any unless you have the RS3200 security system if it's the same as the '06. All reprograms have to be done by the dealer. The list of program options for the '06 are in the service manual. FWIW, most dealers probably won't disable the annoying seat belt reminder chime even tho it's an option, I tried and so have many others!!
Thanks, Quickdtoo. I knew about the 5K oil change reminder and there's a reset for the automatic up/down driver's window. I was just wondering if there were any more surprises to get us back in their maintainence shops.
I never thought about the auto-window calibration as a reset, but it works great. I have in-channel visors that cause the auto-down to activate in warm weather when the window was closed, holding up on the button fixed it so it worked right.
I liked my 2005 Tundra, I really did, but seemed far to much vehicle except when I wanted go fishing into some really rough mountain areas. I tried it with a pop top camper weighing 1200 lbs, but because those are built with USA trucks in mind, it stuck up way above the cab and make a great sail or gas sucker... man I guess. The camper also torqued the suspension all over the road in the right conditions. I did haul my ATV trailer a lot, either with 4-whlrs, building material, or a ton of remodeling trash and the V-8 didn't even seem to know it was there. Same with our tent trailer. Yep, could have beefed the suspension and all for the camper, but not much was going to change the mileage.
I figured out that with the new RAV running the V-6 and replacing my wife's Suby Forester, another terrific vehicle, I should be able to replace the truck, get down to just the RAV and our Avalon. Another great chance to spend some of those taxfree bucks from the Kwajalein Missile Range. The info you guys provided on the trailer hitch is just perfect and very timely as I am waiting delivery of the '07 Limited 4x4 V-6. Looked long at the Highlander, but the hybrid was priced a wee high and the standard v-6 was still the 3.3 pulling a lot of vehicle weight. From all you report, the RAV should be a sweetie, if my butt fits in the bucket. Thanks
Oh, the Avalon has been (knock knock) trouble free and a terrific trip car.
