This is a discussion thread titled "2007 RAV4 Sirius Satellite", within the RAV4 forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
Hi all--need a little info--purchasing a 2007 RAV4 limited V6 4x4 with the upgraded JBL audio system. System is satellite ready, however I am getting conflicting info from different dealers as to the availability of a Sirius tuner that works with this radio. Some say no problem, some say no, some say XM only. It appears they have been given very little if any information on what they can and can't supply.
I am only interested in Sirius, not XM. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks

I need the same info. Seems the wife wants Sirius since I have XM in the Tacoma. Guess she wants to try something different. Plus, she likes Stern. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same issue. Just bought a V6 Limited with upgraded JBL. Have Sirius subscription and wanted to use in the RAV. Dealer told me not yet, maybe early in '07. I would like to get an answer as to if I CAN or CANNOTuse it now.
I know that sirius makes a converter box for GM cars. Its P/N is SIR-GM1. You can look it up on froogle etc. I would call Sirius directly and see what they have to say about it working with Toyota's radio.
I noted two “issues” on the satisfaction survey Toyota sent me soon after my purchase. One was about satellite radio and the other regarding some confusion I am having about the optional towing package on my RAV4 and the associated wiring. Within a few days of returning the survey, my dealer contacted me about the towing issues but not a word about satellite radio. I too have the "upgrade" JBL. With so many new automobiles hitting the show room floor with “factory” satellite radio already installed, what's Toyota's hang up?

Good point! Is this a dead issue or are we the only ones wanting satellite radio in our RAV4??? Anyone with either Serius or XM working with the JBL that would like to help us out?
I was mailed an accessory brochure for the 07 RAV4 that said satellite radio would be available in "Early 2007".
We have just purchased 07 RAV 4 Limited with JBL system. We were told was satellite ready! People at dealer did not even know how to set up bluetooth, let alone satellite radio. Just traded in Lexus with XM (XM sucks) We also want Sirius. Have Sirius in my Dodge truck(came paid for one year, don't know why every one can't do that?) I am going to pull the stereo out of the RAV 4 and look at conections to see if Sirius universal unit will connect! ($39.99). I am going to price the Toyota module also, though I expect it will be $200 to $300 (Lexus one was). Otherwise have to get side mount unit and plug into aux/mp3 jack. Sirius has side mount units with vehicle kits for 39.99 to 119.00. The direct connect cable is 9.99 extra. Wait to see what will happen with XM/Sirius merger. Hope they keep Sirius stations the way they are!!! Will let everyone know what I find!
We just bought a 2008 rav4 limited with the JBL system. My wife is an avid Sirius listener and had to have it in the Rav4. It was XM SAT ready, but you know how that goes. I ended up installing a Toyota SIRIUS Interface Package (TOYSIR2) from tss-radio.com. This kit includes the toyota Sirius interface module and the SIRIUS Connect Vehicle Tuner. It was an easy plug in installation and now we get and control Sirius radio right on the original JBL head unit and the streering wheel controls works with the sirius radio also! It should work with 2007 JBL system also. The kit was a little pricey but it seamlessly integrates Sirius radio into the Rav4 with no visible wires using all original equipment. The wife is very happy with it.
I have bought a 2008 RAV4 Limited with the JBL 6-disk system and I purchased the TOYSCI Sirius connect vehicle turner and the Toyota interface through Car Toys here in the Portland, OR area. These are 2 seperate pieces that you will need to buy seperately, but both are required to make Sirius work. The total cost plus install was $312. Spendy, but well worth it. This is directly connected to the back of the JBL unit with no external wires being seen. This package is compatible with the 2007+ JBL and JBL 6-disk systems. Mine is a little different then the TOYSIR2. As stated by the previous reply, they do have a Sirius device that will work with your JBL in dash radio/cd changer. It was installed flawlessly and all of my steering wheel butons work with no issues. This is the only way to roll. I suggest going to a trusted car audio place and talk to them. You can also order online through Car Toys - A Better Way To Go - The leading specialty retailer of Mobile Electronics and Wireless products have someone local install it, or you can if you know what you are doing. Good luck!
I understand the JBL is "SAT ready" just like my RAV4 was "tow package" ready (what a joke that was) but where does the antenna go? Nearly every SAT equipped automobile I have seen locates the antenna on the top in a module that virtually disappears into the roof line. I wanted SAT radio when I prchd my 07 Limited but was lied to by the dealer regarding its availability. He also lied about the tow package but that's another story.
XM SAT ready does not mean that the sat antenna is installed. The head unit itself is sat ready, meaning that you still have to buy the xm sat tuner and antenna. The sat antenna plugs into the xm tuner, and the xm tuner plugs into the head unit.
Tow package has everything except the receiving hitch. hah!
