Help!!!!1999 Rav Making Strange Clicking Noise

car was struck lightly in rear by another vehicle yesterday. ran fine the entire day. will not start the next day. makes a loud clicking noise coming from a metal box with a picture of a hand on it. the car will not turn over. also you can now move the shift handle into all gears without stepping on the clutch. (it is a 5spd) which did not occur before today. Help!!

noise at the "big hand". probably from the exhaust manifold. did the exhaust pipe at the rear get hit? only "hand" i can think of and probably is an exhaust leak at either end or the manifold is cracked.
the shifting with the engine off is normal. at least the hit from the rear fixed that problem for you. (has been that way from day one. you just didn't realize it.) good luck, yspert
