Exclamation RAV4 air bags

I purchased a 2005 Toyota RAV4 and I am repairing it. The original air bags on the passenger side went off when the RAV4 got into a accident. As you can tell I purchased a salvage title 2005 Toyota RAV4.

My question: I tried to replace and install the new passenger air bag but on the back of the new air bag there are two plug ins. One is orange and one is black. The wires contacting this new airbags and orange and black plug ins were burned up during the accident.

How can I find these two wires???? HELP HELP HELP!!

The dealer said I have to purchase a new harness that has these two wires for a price of around $1,200 dollars.

Can anyone help me on this or where I would locate these two wires or do I have to purchase a all new harness????

Thank you very much. I also own a 2006 Toyota 4 Runner which I love and my two sisters have had all Toyota all their life. That is why I took a chance on this 2005 Toyota RAV4.

Default Re: RAV4 air bags

No repairs should be made to an SRS harness. If the wires are damaged, or connectors are damaged and replacement connectors are not available, the fix, unfortunately, is to replace the entire harness assy. It could be a part of the reason why it has a salvage title, as the cost of the repairs to the SRS system are more than the value of the vehicle.
