Just changed oil in my new 07 Rav 4cyl. Manual says it takes 4.5 qts. with filter change. That is what I put in but appears to be .5qts. over full. Any ideas

Does your owners manual say 4.5 qts? Where did you get the idea it's 4.5?
Mine says 4 qts w/ filter. Mine is '05 but same motor - i dont think they changed the sump capacity.

put in 5 quarts with filter..

Just go by your manual - it will list both engines - pick the correct one. Maybe if you cant do this you shouldnt be working on the pig! I would take ANYTHING you read on a forum as anecdotal ...

Hey Guys--you are not a lot of help. As I stated in my thread the owners manual says 4.5qts. not litres with filter change on my 2007. Anyone have an 07 that can shed some light.

I'm not looking at the manul, but I am almost 100% sure my 06 4 cylinder is 4.3 quarts. It shows right at full.

Recall that you have to drain the oil out before you put the new oil in. Many dealers get this step wrong

Geo - can you scan and post the capacity table in the 2007 Toyota manual so we can determine if you're missing something. OTW, Call toyota - forum help is spotty at best and malicious at worst. I'm so glad you like my brand of help.

Drain and refill with oil filter change 4.3 liters (4.5 US qts, 3.8 Imp. qts)
Drain and refill without oil filter change 4.1 liters (4.3 US qts, 3.6 Imp. qts)
Dry fill 5.0 liters (5.3 US qts, 4.4 Imp. qts)

2GR-FE
Drain and refill with oil filter change 6.1 liters (6.4 US qts, 5.4 Imp. qts)
Drain and refill without oil filter change 5.7 liters (6.0 US qts, 5.0 Imp. qts)
Dry fill 6.5 liters (6.9 US qts, 5.7 Imp. qts)

My 06 owner's manual did say 4.5 qts. I just changed the oil and put 4.5 qts in and it also is over the full mark. Strange. 4.3 seemed to be closer to correct.
