Scion xB 06 rattling noise at 2000 RPM's? Any throughts?
Hi everyone,
I have an 06 xB and notice that when the RPM's hit exactly 2000, there is a rattling noise that sounds like it is from the transmission. Not sure where it is coming from. All I can say is that it rattles at exactly 2000 RPM's. Once I go above or below 2000 RPM's the noise stops.
Anyone else having this issue? Anyone have thoughts about this?

The xB has a low resonance at 2000 rpm. It is a nice sound in the summer with all the windows down (and my sunroof open), and I use it as an economical upshift point, so I am very familiar with it. However, if there is anything loose in the exhaust system or heat shielding, or anything touching it, it could be the cause of your 2000 rpm rattle. For that matter, it could be anything else that is loose on the engine or touching it, like the air cleaner or a hose. Scion xB

I do not know the rattle that you speak of. I don't know what it sounds like, or what is causing it. It cannot be normal, so have your dealer check it out.
