ScionGeneral discussion forum for Scion vehicles (Scion xB, tC & xD).
This is a discussion thread titled "Scion tC -- Young Crowd's Car Stereotype?", within the Scion forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
I have to say that I really like the Scion tC and even more after test driving one. Scion did an outstanding job to be able to sell that car for under $18K IMO.
Anyway, it seems like the Scion line is targeted for the young crowed and was wondering if that stereotype is really there. The dealer claims that a lot of older people buy the tC, but for some reason it seems like they might get frowned upon by the 18 to 23 year old crowd who's probably the prime buyer of this vehicle thinking some old dude is trying to be cool or something.

What do you think?
I think people should buy whatever the like, afford and enjoy. Toyota has had the "image" of an old people's car company as has most of Honda's cars and Toyota is trying to brake that with the Scion line. I just wish that there were a few more Scion models to choose from.

...I've seen old dudes and dudettes driving xA's and xB's all the time.
My wife's 63-year-old sister-in-law got an xA Release 1.0, which got this 64-year-old to buy a TCM xB which I customized a little. Took it to Exposed 06 and won an award: http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...0Exposed%2006/
Brother is well over 30 and he bought one. Reason being was it was affordable and its made by Toyota.
Scion is just a brand to associate itself with affordability. There are a lot of less fortunate people in the US than wealthy people. So if you want lots of sales you focus on the mass groups of people who can afford your vehicle.
Not only that, but they hope to have those scions owners to upgrade to toyota's and lexus's in the future as well.
It may seem like its a young folk stereotype, but its whatever you think and make of it really.
BTW, he picked his up for about $15-16k. There was like a $100-300 difference from the base model and his so he went with the latter.

I worked at Scion events before. Exposed last year at Giants Stadium and VIP this past Saturday @ Raceway Park. The next event I'm working at is Scion Exposed Boston on the 14th,although it's actually in Springfield, about 90 miles or so from Boston
My friends are usually the event dj's. One will be doing Boston while another will be doing the VIP event in Phoenix the same day. The one doing Phoenix got to dj on that choptop widebody xB that Five Axis built (one with the turntables and stuff)
SuperBusa if you attend any Scion-sponsored shows you'll recieve a ton of freebies, and a chance to win prizes ranging from fog lights to wheels to performance clutches. The Scion VIP I just worked at even had a catered lunch.
