2008 Rear Spoiler Comparison

I noticed a difference in rear spoilers that are showing up. The first photo is optional on a limited and called the Rear Aerodynamic Spoiler-CX90 $449. It does not integrate the third brake light and is quite large. The second is the spoiler standard on the Platinum and optional on the Limited/SR5 which includes the third brake light and is called the RF Rear spoiler $100. I have to say, I like the cheaper one.

Is the first one a real Toyota option? It sounds like a way for the dealership to make some extra money by selling a higher margin after-market part than they can make off the original Toyota spoiler. I don't know about others, however to my eye the large spoiler looks real "hokey".

I can't image the problem you'd have if you were transporting something on the roof rack and opened the hatch electrically only to have this larger spoiler bang into the object on the roof.
