Default 08 Interior Question

In looking at pictures of the interior, it would appear that the RedRock interior does not have matching colored carpeting. It looks like you get black carpeting. Can anyone verify this? I was liking the color of the RedRock on the swatch at the dealership, but think it looks horrible without a matching carpet color.

TIA...

It comes with black carpeting, black carpet mats and black door kick panels with red rock leather door panels and dash accents. Everyone's tastes are different. I happen to like the look alot as that's the interior I ordered.

Here's a few pics of the RR interior:

The only thing that I don't like which I've noticed with the RR interior is that the underdash panel color is not a close match for the seating color. This is not an issue with the sand and gray colors. IMHO they should have used black color panels under the dash.

I suspect these photos were from early production versions. My guess is that the actual production versions will have a better match. We'll see.

Thanks HeatWave3,
You are right... as they say... "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". IMO they should have done a better job of integration all around. The interior has a utilitarian feel that is totally out of place in a vehicle in this price range.

My observation is from actually seeing the vehicle live and not from just the photographs. My local dealer has a silver Platinum with the RR interior which I spent a good deal of time crawling through. The color of the lower dash panels and the storage compartments in the front doors look off.

One other observation was that the silver accents really clashed against the RR interior, more so than the tan and gray interiors. I personally really like the RR color, but the integration of this particular color with the rest of interior is weak. I also do like the black carpets with the RR interior.

You'll also notice that the plastic moulding around the seats is black and not the RR color. Had the moulding been the color of the lower dash, the mismatch would be even more noticable. This is why I think the lower dash/glovebox on the RR interior ought to be black and they need to get rid of the silver accents on the door handles and make them black in color with the RR interior.

i just bought a 2008 toyota tundra limited with the red rock interior.
i love the color.
you are right. the carpet is black, not the red rock color. however, with the door trims in the same color (black) it does not look too bad.

OK... I just got a chance to look at the RedRock interior in person, and I must say it does look pretty good after all. I think the obvious and purposeful disparity in color actually works better visually than the mis-matches that you get with the other colors. In this particular vehicle, the color of the lower dash panels and the storage compartments was matched well with the seats. I do agree however that the overall look would be more appealing if they had just made them black.

I have red rock in a Tundra. And i think if they matched the carpet, the red rock would be quite overwhelming...the black carpeting (matching the black steering wheel) i think looks alright...i would've liked to see a little bit of red rock stitching in the steering wheel, but that's just me...
