Tundra, sorry to hear about the problem with the OD. Hopefully it'll turn out to be nothing but I assuume if it is serious it'll be covered by the warranty.
On a separate note here's a few thoughts on what I like and don't like on my 08 Platinum Sequoia. This is only based on a week or so of driving and a couple hundred miles, so very early in forming my opinion.
So far I really haven't found anything I didn't like that I couldn't change. For example, the seat belt alarm was driving me abit nuts. I wear my seat belt however I don't think I should have to be annoyed by Toyota's nannies when I stop to pick-up the mail and don't buckle-up for the ride up the driveway. Got rid of the nanny chime in 3 minutes with the directions at this link.
DIY: How-To disable the seatbelt chime. This 3 minute drill silenced the chime permanently however I still have the spring if by chance I begin to miss that annoying chime after picking up the mail...NOT.
I also wasn't happy about Toyota's restriction on entering an address into the Nav unit while driving or finding a phone number to dial from the BT phonebook. I straightened that problem out in a single afternoon with this product .
2007 Toyota Tundra Installation Report by WileETundra Very satisfied with the result.
I haven't begun any towing yet, so no feedback on that capability. Love the 12 way memory seats, the engine power and smoothness of 6 sp tranny. Really like the Red Rock interior. Really appreciate the memory tilt/telescope steering wheel... as a tall guy it makes getting in & out much easier. Still not crazy about the silver dash.
The storage in this vehicle exceeds all my expectations. I transferred 6 years of "stuff"..big and small....from my Denali XL and the Sequoia swallowed it all with lots of room to spare. Tool kit, trailer stuff, umbrellas, flashlights, trailer jacks, emergency kits, jumper cables, breaker bar, 4 ft snow brush, baseball glove, work gloves, atlases.
I still can't believe I have all my stuff stowed away and can still fold the seats flat or keep them up and never have to remove anything. Great engineering on the interior space if you ask me. Far better than the GMC DXL. 2nd row legroom is tremendous and the reclining 3rd row seat is quite trick for my son while watching a dvd movie with the great sounding headsets. Heated front and 2nd row seats are great but I expected that since I have them in the DXL. Haven't really tried out the A/C seats yet as its still too cold in NJ.
I also like the sonar, backup camera and tilt down mirrors when parking. I do wish it was possible to have the mirrors automatically fold when the vehicle is in park or automatically fold out when put in drive. The only way I have found to operate the folding mirrors is to remember to press the button to activate the folding or unfolding operation.
