1-Name plate
2-design of taillights
3-round reflectors
4-hitch built into bumper
5-rear window if less square
6-the space where the side windows meet the rear window
7-wiper placement
8-the whole tail is wider and shorter not square
9-the space where the licence plate mounts is more flush and tapers into the door instead of an insert type look
10-the bumper is not flat anymore and it has a nice angle to it.
Rears are different enough.
Different angle of rear wiper
No fuel door lock (COST CUTTING)
D pillar is obvious on 2nd gen
circle reflectors of bumprer
hitch is not bumper intergrated on 1st gen

I agree with Pellpat. To my eye they look like very different vehicles from the rear. Tail light shape and placement, bumper, nameplate, rear window shape and higher wasteline. The only carry-over resemblance to me is the spoiler which is a unique trait that makes it stand out as a Toyota. Take the spoiler away and you would have very different looking rear ends IMO.

The side aspect is a little off I dont like the rear door's that much somewhat dissorted if you ask me Gen One look's better on the side.Gen two front end is nicer and Gen two rear end is more redefined it's the side profiling I don't like
Front end on first is better than 2nd but 2nd gen rear is better that 1st.
Everyone's tastes are different however I think the front end of the 08 Sequoia looks more like an SUV while the 1st gen Sequoia looks more like a minivan. The new Seq has a more masculine look (if any vehicle can really look masculine) while the previous gen Seq looks more feminine to my eye. Nothing negative meant by the descriptive terms.... just my personal observation.

Not sure I follow the side aspect being off on the 2nd gen Seq design. I always viewed the "c" pillar and rear side window as odd on the older Seqs. Like it was an add-on to the crew cab. The new gen "c" pillar design integrates all 4 pillars and the rear side window more smoothly into the overall side profile.
The 2nd gen also has a higher waistline which gives it a much substantial profile than the "lighter" look of the 1st gen. The 2nd gen cleaned up the back door window by eliminating the partial window that couldn't be lowered into the door. This new 2nd door/window design also cleaned-up the side profile of the new Seq vs the previous gen. Once again these are just personal opinions.

I don't mind the front end of the 2nd gen compared to the 1st gen but who cares really.. they look the same. As for the front. The 1st gen (05-07) looks much more thought out and integrated than the 2nd gen which is just a Tundra end without the cheesy black strip on the front end.
While front on 2nd gen fit and finish is superb the grill just ruins by trying way to hard.
I do have to say that the Sequioa does look much better in person than in photo

I like the Colored keyed grill the best anyways Chrome suck's and it's the first item I rip off on my Truck and Suv. Then again I debaged all the Toyota Logo's Tundra Iforce 4wd etc tacky tacky. It's intresting one day i was heading out and Noticed a new camry rebaged as a Lexus Es330 and was like ahh sure don't have me fooled I know my car's well I guess his moto was simple if Lexus can rebadge a camry and call it the Es330 then why not do the same on a Camry on the same platform ..

Yeah. Chrome sucks. I have a small strip on the side. Thats all. As for front. I am glad mine is colored keyed.
I was thinking of debadging...is 5 years old too late to debadge or willl I be ok
Heatwave- great info on disabling the seat belt chime. I might do the same, but did you know that it does eventually stop if you give it 20-30 seconds. Yes the NAV/Phone book flicking off and on annoys me as well. But my only significant complaint is the remote start. First, its not very remote as I have to be within 30-40 feet and second as soon as you unlock the vehicle it shuts back off again. Did you get this accessory ? Does anyone know how to disable the engine shut off when you unlock ? Also, has anyone had to re-establish the bluetooth with phone. Suddenly it wasn't picking up my phone, I re-did the synch and it seems to be fine now. Can anyone tell me if this is common as I have never had this feature in previous vehicles ? Does something in particular cause it to lose the link ? Last question for now... why does it seem like the gas tank does not take a full fill ? In other words, with only about 15 miles left on the "miles to empty reading", I filled up and it seemed to only take like 20 gallons. I think it has a 26 or 27 gallon tank. Any info or sight on these questions would be great.
Thanks all, this board is great.

what I really like to see is the new Seq owners Ditching your chrome for a Nicer color keyed Grill.I know on the 07-08 Tundra Sports package they provide that but would be a really nice add on for the 2008-up seq owners.Im willing to bet this would be a welcome upgrade on the New seq. Page it's never too early to debadge if your kept your truck detailed well it shouldn't be an issue.

Yes, the chime stops after about 20-30 secs but if you are still unbuckled, the chime starts again in a minute or 2. I have only one Mom and I don't need Toyota to think their my 2nd mom.

I did not get the dealer installed remote start accessory on my Platinum. I assume this is a feature you had installed by the dealer. Its not available from the factory. If I get remote start, it will be from a local shop since many of the limitations you're experiencing do not exist in the aftermarket versions. The Toyota remote start is a waste of time in my opinion and the design defeats the purpose and benefit.

My BT has worked great. No re-synchs needed. Volume is excellent through the sound system and the tone and clarity is quite good on the receiving end as well as my end.

Can't help on this one as I've only filled once other than the dealer's full tank.

I prefer the chrome. Easier to wipe clean and to my eye looks sharp against a black vehicle. In fact, I'm thinking of adding the wire mesh grill at this site EG Classics Inc.: Products. E&G Classics expects to have the new Sequoia grill design in a couple of weeks. It will include an matching optional lower grill to go with the main grill.
