on the super slab I set the cruise control between 70-75.
Out here in Maryland-Virgina the interstates are pretty much flat. I have learned not to "heavy foot" this vechicle.
A bit disappointed with the gas mileage. Average about 15 mpg and agree completely that a heavy foot burns the gas big time. On the subject, one complaint having owned a first gen. Seq.: For the amount of gas this thing uses, you'd think they'd make a gas tank that is bigger (and not smaller) than the first gen. vehicle. I'd love to stop at the station once a week, but with current filling capacity, that's not possible. I know about the four gallon reserve, but the old Seq. could be filled to almost 23 gallons with no difficulty. Not so with the 08 Limited which takes no more than about 21 gallons. 24-25 gallon capacity would be optimal for me.
Specs are one thing, but going to the station and filling up after low fuel warning goes off is another. At 20+ gallons or so, I'm warned it's time to refill.
I have a limited 5.7L with about 4400 miles on it. I am getting consistant 19 mpg highway at 60-65 mph, but I don't put my foot into it much and I use the cruise control whenever possible. My other car is a brand new Ford ambulance so I get to go fast enough and burn the company diesel. Although when I am passing someone in the Sequoia...man is that fun!!!
Any thoughts on elevation, I just rolled over 10,000 on my 08 LTD. In Atlanta I am getting a Consistent 16 - 19 Mixed When traveling I get 19-20. Now this is where it gets interesting I arrive in Ft. Lauderdale and fill up. I get arround 14-16 Mixed. In have done this trip 3 time and my mileage is consistent. I chart my mileage with each fill up so my overall average since i took delivery is holding at 17.1mpg. It seems i do worst at the lower elevation.
I doubt elevation has much to do with it since the computers would adjust for that and lean the mixture as needed. I wonder if humidity has an effect? Is Florida more humid? It would make sense that if it was the suspended water molecules would take up space that otherwise would be filled with the aerosolized fuel.
2300 klms, so far and I'm averaging 14.8 mpg. Funny thing is I'm driving mainly on highways. I'm beginning to wonder if humidity is a factor, given that this place is also very humid. If I keep on getting these figures, after another 2-300 klms, I'm off to the dealership with questions...
