Trunk Handle Broke

I have an 01 Sequoia and the trunk handle has broken making it impossible to open the tail of the truck. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any thoughts as to how I can get it open? Is there aother release somewhere? Unfortunately, it looks like it has to be opened to be able to pull off the interior to access the mechanical parts.

Any help would be appreciated.
