2008 Sequoia Gauge lights up all the time?

I just noticed that when I turn on the ignition to my 08 sequoia, the gauge lights up without me turning on the lights. Is this normal? Isn't it suppose to just come on when I turn on the lights? I don't have it set to DRL either.

I'm pretty sure that's normal. What trim level do you have?

Almost every new vehicle we've had in the last few years ('06 STI, '06 Odyssey, '07 Infiniti) have a type of glowing gauges. I think the Sequoia with the Optitron gauges is the same. Many other modern vehicles are the same, too, with the gauges always lit. That's why there's a new icon on the dash to tell you whether or not your headlights are on because you can't tell with just the gauges anymore.

I've been noticing it because it bugs me when I drive at night and see how many people don't have their headlights on. They see their gauges lit up and assume incorrectly that their headlights are on.

i just have an SR5, i don't think an optitron gauge are in those...

Hmm, still might be normal though since that would be a very unusual defect. Do you have a headlamp "On" icon on the speedo?

Yes, a little light bulb comes on when I turn on the headlamps.
