Default putting in neutral????

has anybody had a bad experience by putting your vehicle your driving in neutral to coast down a hill? to save on gas in case anyone was wondering. ive been tempted to do it in my 08 sequoia to raise my mpg average but wonder if something could actually happen. i have read on some site's people saying the torque converter is just a transmission fluid pump and when you put it in neutral it stops pumping and when you put in back in drive while still moving....well its bad. ive done it a few times while driving on the I-5 through the grapevine while going from bakersfield to los angeles in california and it really raises my mpg average (its a 5 mile downhill coast) on any car i have had according to my scanguage II ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool and have never had any problems. i just want to know if anybody has had any problems or heard of any problems.

It may not be worth the few pennies in gas you're looking to save. I'm never a fan of leaving it in N at 1000rpm and then putting it back in D and running it up to 3000+ rpm.

No dont do that you don't burn gas at all when you coast in drive I have read that on here some where in the tundra area. You don't burn any gas hardly at idle just let it roll you don't have to do all that gear changing !
