certain hose?

i bought a extra top half of the air filter box and intake tube for $25 for my experiment. i removed the carbon filter and i removed the resonator from the tube. now i need longer tubing that went into the resonator, do i need certain tubing for both of the ones already their? i did this to see if i could gain anything and its only $25 so its no loss.
