Well, just got my TRD cold air intake today and will install by next week.Has anybody put TRD CAI in there 08 sequoia 5.7L?......Any difference on gas mileage and sound of the engine?...Cant't wait to put it on but the dealer can not put it on till next friday because there main TRD mechanic for that dealer is on vacation.Do not want to put it myself because I do not want my warranty getting voided. My sequoia only have 1,200Miles on it.

Hey Ajay,
I've been through this before as every car I've owned has always been upgraded with aftermarket parts. The dealership CANNOT void your warranty for minor upgrades like an air intake or exhaust. They have to PROVE that the upgrade you installed was the cause in any damage that happens to your motor. I've actually gone through this process with a friend's Mazda where the dealer claimed a K&N intake solution cause his engine to blow up. They could never prove it so they covered it under warranty. I've been looking at other choices for air intakes. I'm not sure which one I'll go with. I'm actually leaning towards the TRD because it looks clean. Good luck with it and let me know how it looks when you're done.
I would have to say that i am very impressed with the TRD CAI.I drove it a total of 150 miles mostly freeway miles and here are my observation.
21.7 avg MPG on freeway (Avg speed 70-75MPH)
18.2 on streets
Noise level(almost same as stock but above 3500-4500RPM you can here that engine wanting moregas)
Also very responsive when you step on the gas..
as far as added HP you can feel it also, not much but you can feel the little HP it added.I would estimate between 5-10HP added by the TRD CAI.
here more pic...with the TRD carbon fiber emblem..
Sequoia's design shared some characteristics with the Tundra's. The Tundra intake is sucking cold air from the right fender; I think the Sequoia's intake has the same design. The OEM intake is basically a restricted CAI compared to the TRD. Some Tundra owners drilled a hole in the fender and the bottom half of the air box to let more air in, and they see some improvement on the mpg.

ajay,
How much improvement in you mpgs? I have recently bought an SR5 for the family sedan and would spend the money on the cai if I could get numbers like you posted. I've only got about 2500 miles on it so far, without a long road trip and it's averaging about 15 mpg. Two mpgs more would payout in less than a year.
kikerbiker,I did another 100 mile run sunday night with family 50 miles one way and 50 miles back home. Here is the #..
EST mpg on freeways 19.9 running 65-75MPH
EST mpg on streets 17.8
My SR5 currently has 1400 miles and i use premium gas for my vehicles. So far the CAI is paying for itself.Just take it easy on the accelarator to save you gas because you will notice the difference between stock and TRD CAI after installed.sometimes i forget to take my foot of the gas
also,I have received an e-mail from TRD that they will come out with the TRD cat back system sometime in november
can you show me a picture of the actual filter ajaySR5? is it just a trd oem replacement or a cone type housed in the air box? kdanh i believe what you say about it not having enough air because i bought a spare top half of the air filter box ($25) and removed the carbon filter for a cheap test, before that i was averaging 13.5-14 mpg in the city with my small trips around town and now it has not gone lower than 15mpg with the stock filter! dont believe me? try it. i looked in the side of the fender and it looks like it gets enough air but i guess alittle more helps but im going to look into the trd filter if it helps.

Did you get the top half from ebay? I was the 2nd bidder on a half top auction about 2 weeks ago.
I'm looking for the bottom half so I can use as a backup because I want to have the 2nd inlet into the air box from the fender.
