SequoiaGeneral discussion forum for the second generation 2008 and later Toyota Sequoia.
This is a discussion thread titled "floored it from intersection, is this ok?", within the Sequoia forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I had to pull into an intersection fast to avoid getting hit. So I floored it. It accelerated well, but engine was loud and straigned. Did this do any damage, or does it hurt motor and transmission? I checked oil later, and it was fine.
. . . but engine was loud and straigned. Did this do any damage, or does it hurt motor and transmission?
That was 350 cubic inches of muscle creating in excess of 380 horse power!
Loud, mabey; Strained, I doubt it. If it were something that was going to harm the engine or transmission, I'm sure Toyota would have engineered it so that you couldn't do it at all.
You didn't hurt anything.

You cannot hurt the 5.7L V8 with driver input alone. The systems will not allow you to do so. No worries. Just a fun time had by your passengers.
You ought to try that flooring it more often. It's really fun if you disable VSC first. Even with VSC off you can't hurt your engine; the worst you could do is smoke your tires.

This is funny.. I have a BMW with step tronic trans and its the opposite of the TOY. I was Redlining first bouncing off the rev limiter wondering wtf is going on when I relized it was backwards. Its much easier to pull when accelerating than push. I love this SUV and will be doing a Supercharger as soon as I can find a shop thats done more than three..
