I have the 6 cd changer with ASL in my SR5, and the bass is horrible. It vibrates the speakers in the front doors and cannot hold bass with ASL above low, or bass settings set to -2 or higher. Is this warranty issue? What can dealer or Toyota do?

I also noted the same issue with certain CD's. Needed to turn the ASL off and adjust the Bass separately. With the ASL on, the volume increase with speed seems to disproportionately increase the Bass. Funny thing, the Sequoia's so quiet I'm not sure you need the ASL at all.

it's definitely a warranty issue. take it in with the cd player set to a track that buzzes and demonstrate it for a service rep. make sure to take out any small loose items in the doors first.

On the open highway its not so quiet. ASL is a nice feature, and the speakers are mostlikely so under powered to handle this receiver. In my opinion, Toyota should include the better JBL speakers with the optional radio that has ASL.

i also want to upgrade the bass but also dont want to lose cargo space. i tried to take out the sub by removing the screws that hold it in so i can get a idea of what the mounting depth is but it seems to be glued in to seal it. has anybody removed it or know what the ohms are on this sub or can tell me how to find out. is it a 6 or 8 inch?

The only option close is for a 2008 Sequoia with 4.7L engine with 14 speakers. Mine's 5.7, but I suppose it's the same thing?
So we have an 8" subwoofer with 3" depth.
At JL Audio there is an 13" sub, with 12.5" mounting hole, that can be made to use at 3" depth. It's the 13TW5, soon there's going to be a 12TW5 at 12".
This one looks more promising though: the JL Audio 8W3v3 is only 8", but needs 4.75" depth.
That's 1.75" more than the stock, I wonder if we can fit it in there? Even if it sticks out a little bit, this sounds promising. This one needs optimally something in between 125 and 250W according to this chart. Not much, not sure is enough for the whole cabin, but a priority for me is not to lose any cargo space.
the jl 8w3v3 is what i was looking at also because its whats going in my 06 tundra under the rear seats. what about the v2
Yes, true, I forgot that one. Even less power requirements though, but it's depth is just 3.85 inches!
Now I suppose we can't use the JBL amp for those, can we? I don't think there will be enough juice for them. We'd have to go with amps for the subwoofer only at least, like those.
This would be the simplest solution, connecting the 250W/1channel amp to the rear speaker wires:
In this way, we would ignore the wires for the factory subwoofer, because I think it's equalized in a way as to have less power in higher volumes, as most factory system do.
I run thje Jl audio 10w6v2 and it sounds awesome. I bought a nice small box that I can remove in 2 seconds. I use a JLaudio 750x1 HD amp to power it and I can make the truck shake if need be. I also upgraded all the spakers to jl audio and put in the 600x4 hd amp. My system now rocks.
