I wrecked/flipped my 05 4Runner this summer, luckily nobody got hurt just my poor 4Runner. I was thinking of getting a new 4Runner but it's hard to find a third row options on it just like my old one. My family is growing, third baby on the way this Spring won't fit on a Mighty Prius and decided to go for the big boy... My wife loves it and it's a good buy...

Hi joiboie...I'm in the market for a Sequoia too! I'll tell you my reasons and see what fits with your scenario...
1) Growing family & I can afford the gas prices...to a limit!
2) Bigger & heavier so it would be "harder"to flip! >>>Wider "Froggy" stand...
3) Power & Prestige all the way..
4) LX 570/LC 570 without the price tag.....>>>almost!!
5) Specious inside & out...warns others on the road "Hey, I'm here...watch it!"
6) All the bells and wistles one wants....some may need tweakin'....
We got our Sequoia for the extra passenger room. We're a family of 5 and have had 2 7-passenger 4runners. I was hoping for more of a difference in cargo space behind the last row, but the increased cabin space more than makes up for that. It's now so much easier to take care of kid duties like changing clothes/diapers and nobody complains anymore when I push the seat back.
Just got ours for the space as well! Had an X5 but with 2 young kids and 2 big dogs we simply didn't have enough space. The kids felt crammed in the 2nd row with their car seats and with the dogs in the back we couldn't carry ANY luggage and needed a roof box.
We just picked up our Sequoia last week and LOVE it. With the captain's chairs in the 2nd row, they now have their own console to store their junk, with the 3rd row folded we can get dogs AND luggage back there, and with the 3rd row up we can now carry friends with us as well. Plus, even with the booster seat the 2nd row slides up more than adequately allow access to the 3rd row. The gas mileage is horrible, but then again I only got an average of 17mpg in the X5 and had to use Premium gas, so I may be breaking even Good luck!

- Power and torque of new 5.7 vs. old 4.7L engine.
- Independent rear suspension, overall ride quality improvement
- Gizmo's and gadgets compared to other cars
- Toyota realiability and resale value
- Spacious and ergonomic interior
But by far the leading factor for me was the darn LOOKS!!! of the new Seq . Coming down the road the car looks impressive .
I also traded in my 03" Sequoia for an 08".
Our main reason of trading in our 03 for an 08 are:
1)I have 2 boys 7 years old and a 9 month old and we love the 3rd row that folds flat which means more space for the stroller and bags and as one member said here it makes changing diapers easy.
2)The 5.7L more power
3)The integrated bluetooth and steering wheel control
4)I like the exterior design looks very mean and menecing
We love our 03" sequoia also never gave us any problem but those are the 3 main reason we picked up an 08".
Interior Mod:Toyota-Backup Camera & Drop down monitor,Alpine Rear Entertainment System(PKG-RSE2),Toyota/TRD--Sequoia Door Sill Protector,Toyota--Sports Pedal,TRD Japan shifter knob,Piaa super white LED 19263 interior map and dome lights
As others have already stated, family & previous 'Yota ownership.('90 Celica, '92 4Runner & '93 Land Cruiser) We now have a 4 month old & needed the extra room. I'm 6'3" & wanted a vehicle that people/family could sit comfortably behind me.(not many vehicles fit that criteria!) The Wife had an '06 BMW 330i prior & really wanted to go w/ an X5('07 4.8 I did too! ) But practicality won out. Also the 0% & saving almost $9k really helped sway us.

We have outgrown the 03 Sequoia and the new one for that matter, I have a 2009 3/4 ton Suburban on order and plan to lift it 6". The lack of room with the 3rd row up was the deal breaker 2nd was plain ol' lack of aftermarket goodies. 4 kids, a dog and luggage just don't fit.
I will miss Yota and here's hoping to GM QC.
