Default New vs Used

I just joined today and am glad to be a part of this great forum. Any help y'all could offer me with my problem would be appreciated. I'm in the market to buy a 2008 Sequoia for my wife and our as-yet unborn baby. I have seen two that I really like...one is a used Platinum (13,797 miles) fully loaded, the other is a pretty well-equiped brand new Limited at the local dealer. The prices are about the same, I'm confident I could get either one for around 45,000. Does one of these scream "must buy" louder than another? The dealer actually said that price for a platinum was pretty good. Thanks

The Platinum is at this link:

My 2 cents... if the Platinum is certified... I would negotiate on that one. I was in a similiar situation and went with the Certified Platinum...

Just from my own research, $45,000 is too much for both of them. That said, you will probably have more room to negotiate on the used V new. I would negotiate down on the Platinum, and see how low you can go.

Just for your own reference, I purchased an 08 Platinum in December with 15,000 miles for $39,600.

Thanks for all the feedback. I like the idea of having all the options I could possibly want for under 40K (the Plat does have 4x4) so I'll prob move in that direction.

Are you going to be able to drive the used one? I think 13000 is a lot of miles. I have 4500 on mine and have it for 5 months already. My other car is an 2007 FX with 15k miles and you can definitely see it's not new.

Now if you get a much better price on the Platinum, then go for it! For the same price, I'd go with the brand new one.

See if there are any dealers in your area that have a rep car. That is how I bought mine. Basically one of the reps down in Portland went to the different dealerships on the I-5 corridor in WA state. The truck had 13,000 highway miles when I bought it and since it had never been licensed, it qualified for all of the new rebates. It's a limited with everything and then some. It has the 2nd row captains, all weather mats, skid plate, satellite radio, nav, dvd, auto level suspension. It's basicallt the platinum without the heated second row. The sticker on it was 58 and change with all of the add ons. I was able to get it for just over 40,000. Good luck, I love mine and no matter what your choice is you will be happy!
