there was a thread on here a little while ago, i dont know where it went, talking about the TRD superchargers for the 5.7L having problems, something to do with temperatures? people were saying that on warm days they ran like a bat outta hell, but on cold days wouldnt get any boost. also something about TRD not returning emails regarding the problem. i was kinda upset because i already had my wife sold on the idea, and then i read that thread, i guess i'll wait a year or two.
Manoah...sounds like you have to answer to a higher authority as well...
I, too, had the bosslady sold on the idea of the supercharger, but I read that thread as well, and am now putting it off (gives me some more time to save up anyway). Also, I questioned my local dealer's truck center, and they looked at me as if I was talking in Latin. Of course their response was, "We've never heard of it, but let me know when you want to install it, and I'll talk to the manager about getting you a price break."
Its funny to me how quickly they discounted the idea that anything could ever go wrong with a Toyota product...
Then again, I live in So. Cal, so temperatures don't really ever get very cold. However, I do like to go snowboarding in the winter, so finding out my supercharger doesn't work in cold weather the hard way would completely suck.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! so true my friend! i always say its her truck, but with all the modds lined up for it she says its mine.
my wifes sequoia is also in so cal. but i know that near the cost it can get kinda chilly, and also up in the high desert where my family is it gets decently cold, what was the temperature where the super charger stops working? i dont remember reading that.
I think toyota knew about this long ago and this is why they state it can NOT be installed with new purchase and they have to be two seperate sales. Why would they do this? Lemon law

That doesnt make any sense......its a warranteed item. If installed by a dealer you're good to go.....
Warranty work can lead to a complete lemon law of the entire vehicle SC and all. If the super charger is installed and paid for in one shot with the vehicle. If you have problems with the supercharger and Toyota is doing what they are now (basically nothing) you could lemon law the entire vehicle. If it is as it is now a toyota add on after the sale your stuck with warranty work on the supercharger with no support from toyota and basically no established legal recourse. It sucks because your paying for something awesome while driving a rental. I lemon lawed a cadilac 5 years ago after to many attempts to fix it with none of them working. I am currently lemon lawing a BMW 335I. Its gone through 4 fuel pumps and a turbo in 10 months. BMW keeps putting in the same defective fuel pump that leaves you stranded on the road. This reflash fuel and air is not going to work in all areas. Take colorado and florida. Two totally different A/F ratios. Toyota needs to add an adjustable fuel nanny to the kit.
My brother has a hyndai minivan 10 year warranty 100,000 miles was there big promo ad. Problem is its always in the shop getting the tranny fixed. Thats not what I want in a vehicle. Sure its great its being fixed for free but I have more important things to do with my limited time.

The concept of a fully warranteed S/C is wonderful, but the bang for the buck on this mod is relatively small.
Consider the power gains on other vehicles (S197 Mustang for example). You typically get an increase of 60-70% to the wheels. The TRD promises a very small increase (which is probably why they're willing to do the warranty).
As much as I love the idea of a S/C on the Sequoia, I'll have to pass on this mod. FOr the same investment, I can get one of our Mustangs into the 11s.
Not sure where PenguinOffRoad is getting his numbers. I bought the SC in Feb 09. I've loved it. There is a marked difference between stock, which I drove daily for 20k+ and the SC which I have 4k on now. It pulls a trailer very well. I'm pulling between 3-9k pounds pretty regularly.
