Default Bluetooth mic blows

My Stock bluetooth mic in the 08 Sequoia is horrible. sounds like I am talking thru a tin can, with major delay. I looked for a mic bias adjustment, but didn't see anything. should I be looking at a new mic?

My wife will not talk to me when I am on the blue tooth. At first I thought it was just her being a pain in my *** as always. But maybe she's right. I haven't heard her call me on it so I will withhold judgement. I have other people who I talk to regularly that don't have a problem, or haven't stated that there's a problem. It would be interesting if you could swap out the mic for a better one. I'm not surprised that there is mic issues, as the nav is not that good as well.

Nope, tested it with her Iphone and my blackberry. Both are unusable. Barely usable to to a landline, but Cell to the Sequoia or even worse bluetooth to bluetooth, you are not having a conversation... it's very very bad

I've found, as well as many others, the iPhone 3g doesn't work well w/ 08+ Sequoias' bluetooth. on the otherhand, the 2g iPhone works just fine.
I haven't heard of any software patches/upgrades for this issue. if anyone has, please chime in. As for your BB, which model is it?

yeah me too, i did the alpine w-505 with nav and bluetooth. it was a little pricey but worth every penny. i figured out long ago that i should buy the lower end models because im going to end up upgrading everything anyway.

I would have done the same except The Wifey just had to have the Red Rock/Arctic Frost Pearl combo.

I am right there with you on that one. I got a great deal on my SR5 and the platnum was out of my $$ range. That red rock interior is sweet... My wife and I have a deal. If I buy a new bike there better be a coach purse hanging from the handlebar when she pulls in the garage to see it for the first time..

FYI, my bluetooth mic connection to my Verizon phone (Samsung Omnia) is actually very clear according t people on the other end of my calls. BTW I have a Platinum with Red Rock Interior with Black exterior and ordered mine in Dec 2007. I now have almost 25,000 and like my Sequoia as much or more than I did when I first bought it.

My small wish list of improvements would be:
  • let me power the mirrors in and out without having to use the ignition key (or make them auto).
  • Get the lawyers out of the design of these vehicles and let owners have full access to the Nav unit (I overrode the entire system with the Speed Pulse Generator ( search in this forum for more details) that let's you have full access to the Nav while underway.
  • And how about giving us HIDs in at least the Platinum addition. Maybe let the front passenger seat slide back and additional 2-3 inches.
Otherwise I love the vehicle

I'd add one more to the list....
Smart key-Keyless entry/lock & start.

Hmm, I have an iPhone 3G and it seems to be working extremely well with my Bluetooth. I've got a Platinum with Nav (yeah, the factory Nav sucks, but I didn't have a choice - long story). The only problem I have has to do more with the iPhone itself, and nothing to do with the Bluetooth system. Maybe I just got lucky?

I've got the same complaints/suggestions as Heatwav3 and ImolaMMM regarding the Platinum Edition. I had an '06 Mercedes ML350, and the best thing about that was the autofolding mirrors. I had them set so when I turned off the ignition, the mirrors would automatically fold in, and fold out by opening the door when I returned to the vehicle. But honestly, I'm thankful that these mirrors just fold in automatically at all (my house has two single port garage deal...couldn't park it in the garage if I couldn't fold in those mirrors).

Also, I'll see your suggestions and raise you with: THE DAMN PLATINUM MODEL SHOULD COME PRE-INSTALLED WITH THE S/C!!!

Highly unlikely, but still, it would be nice to eventually see a model available with that as a pre-configured option.

I have to agree, the Mic in the Sequoia is awful. With my wife's Sprint LG Rumor, I can barely hear her. When I drove the Sequoia and used my Verizon LG enV2, she says it's awful.

In our BMW, both the enV2 and my blackberry have no issues according to her.
