Default re-gear for 35's?

has anyone in here run 35's on their sequoia? if so did you need to re-gear in order to avoid grenading your tranny? also, what speedo calibration unit did you use, and any other problems encountered?

you will not have to regear to run 35 inch tires, your truck may gear down quiker on some of the hills and your engine will be revving about 400 rpm slower at the same speed but other then that you will only notice it at the gas pumps

The lowest gears that exist are 4.30 tow package gears. No aftermarket gears exist for the Tundra... yet... maybe I'll look into that. The Sequoia has a 10" rear differential, quite different from the 10.5" Tundra unit... so you may be out of luck for rear differential gears...? Anyway, the 5.7 has no problem turning 35"ers.

BTW, I'll e-mail you that pic asap.

Just be aware that after changing to 35s, you speedometer will be reading low. So if you're reading 55mph and you pass an officer running radar, you will be traveling at a higher speed than indicated.

Also, you'll be showing lower mileage traveled. So, you may need to change your maintenance schedules accordingly (oil changes every 2,700 miles instead of 3K for example).

Manoah, definatly do not need to trim or do anything for 34.7 inch tires with a three inch lift, i wanted to go wider then the 11.5 and went with 33x12.50 and it was a mistake, they look to small, i should have went with the toyo 12.6 x 34.3 or a 35 x 12.50 in an al terrain. i think you may have to trim to accomadate a true 35x12.50 but it wouldnt take much

Which lift did you wind up going with? The Toytec, Revtek, or something else?

I've been wondering about the kind of difficulty in doing these lifts. I only have a cheapo spring compressor (not the hydraulic shop-style) and I'm worried about dealing with that piece of the install...

as a military police officer, when i pull people over with oversize tires, ever single one of them uses the excuse " i didnt know how fast i was going because my speedo is off " i get sick of hearing it, because i know for a fact that after a couple of weeks, you figure out what the difference is, and you really know about how fast your going. anyway, i found this to compensate because i dont want it to affect the odometer on my nice new truck, on my old 78 bronco ranger with a 6" lift and 38" tires, i didnt care about the odo, but i love this sequoia.

think i'll go with a revtek, however, they havent responded to my emails, and that kinda pisses me off. i prefer the 2 1/2" front with the 2 1/4" as opposed to the 3" front and 2" rear from toytec, but there is a toytec rep on this site that gives discounts, and thats cool, plus he answers questions, and thats always nice.
