Just so I understand here, the only thing this buys me over a hybrid disc solution is the ability to watch video on the screen while in motion, right?
What hybrid disc solution are you referring to? I've never seen a hybrid disc that does ANYTHING with the Nav unit in the 2008+ Sequoia. Can you provide a link to the hyrbid disc you're referring to that functions in a New Gen Sequoia Nav system?
I created a hybrid disc using my current navigation DVD and merging it with firmware from an older disc...then I overwrote the firmware onto my Sequoia by pulling the neg bat cable and reloading with my new disc.
Then by entering the overide sequence code I can use everything while I'm driving...it works perfect...the exception is I cannot play video from the RSE.

I assume there's no version of this type of disc on ebay etc? Do you know if you lost any capabilities on the new Nav by using the older firmware? If I recall from past reading on the subject, this approach required the user to go into the service menu to Override the nanny controls each time the engine is started. Is that true for your homemade disc?
I assume by "pressing one of the buttons" you are not referring to the Sequoia's Nav controls but additional buttons your units comes with. Where are your override unit's "buttons" installed? Where are you making cuts into the dash or center console? Do you have any pictures of your "buttons" in a new Gen Sequoia?
Yes, the buttons we are referring to is the switch that comes with our module. The switch is attached using double-sided tape and can attached to any flat surface in your vehicle. We don't recomment you cut into the dash. We installed a module and had the switch routed inside the armrest. Please see the picture attached.

Thanks again for trying to help us with this issue.
Yes, once you unlock the nav, ALL the features will become available, i.e. phone book, MP3 folder list (Track List), POI and etc.

Since we do not have the hybrid disc option, we do not know what hybrid disc will or will not provide.
I just installed the Prestigious Society VIP override unit on my 2008 Sequoia with JBL NAV and RES. The unit works flawlessly - just as described by Mark in the beginning of this post.
Everything is plug and play into the JBL NAV head unit. It took me about an hour to install. The unit is controlled by a separate wired two button switch - a "NAV" button which lights up when pushed once and activates all the nav features while driving and a video button which allows the NAV unit to display video from the RES while driving.
The GPS map goes into an inactive holding pattern when you activate the nav functions, and then takes a few seconds to return to normal display when you exit the nav functions.
At the same time, I also installed a plug and play xm radio unit which integrates with the JBL NAV head unit and works fine with the override install.

True - it is my first post. I have been a long time reader of this forum, have learned a great deal, and only now felt like I had something worth saying! I have no relationship with PS except as a satisfied customer.
I'll second that review (and this is not my first post). I contacted Prestigious Society and put in a pre-order for one when they first started this post. They shipped just a couple of days later and it arrived the day I returned from my vacation.
Instructions are very clear and unit is made extremely well. It is not a hack Radio Shack module. It took me about 30 minutes total to install and I took my time. I also wired the switch down the center and into my center console. The power outlet inside the center console slides up and out, so you can run the cable right underneath it and use the double-stick tape to mount the switch next to it. No cutting or drilling whatsoever and works EXACTLY as designed.
Plus, I like that the unit is small enough to mount right on the back of the NAV unit itself.
Thanks for making this! Best $250 I've spent on the truck to date! No more functioning like a contortionist to try and figure out what is displaying on the menu of the kids DVD...

I also have the same feed back. Got my sequoia last year, and i never understood how you can disable the nav. that means on a long trip on the highway, i have to pull over to search and input a new destination before continueing on my journey. i guess all of us know and deal with that.
i also have the rear dvd system, for my kid to watch dvds. Problem is when you put in a dvd, it has all these menus which she doesnt know how to navigate. its so stupid that we have to stop the car, and my wife goes and sit behind so that we can continue on our journey.
i found out about the prestigiuous society device on the board here, and picked up a unit from them. Mark was helpful in sending me instructions and brochure in eelctronic form to help me undersatnd how it works before i commit.
i put the thing in yesterday, and I have been driving around with it today for a few hrs. works as advertised. i am no good a diy, so i paid a guy to put it in for me. $75 labor. But I'm happy with the mod.

like to order the unit for sure...i had a lockpick for the '07 denali, which we sold, to get the '10 seq Ltd with RES/Nav...
basic, question: on the seq, when the RES is ON, does the audio of the Disc come thru the main JBL speakers/sub? or does it only come thru the wireless headphones?
also, with the PS override module, where does the audio come thru? headphone only or thru the inCar jbl system?
You can configure it either way. I have had passengers just listen through the wireless or wired headsets, or I can elect to listen to the RES through the speakers.
oh ok....is the configuration thru the PS bypass module or is it something you configure via the OEM RES? basic question but i haven't actually tried to see the DVD from the RES in our car when in park yet so i don't know where the audio comes thru...
i think my kids tried listening to it via the wireless but we never had it figured out to listen to the audio via the onboard sound system/jbl while in parked mode....
gonna do the PS.....gotta figure where to put the two switches..
