Here are a couple of pictures with the instrument cluster cover removed. They were taken at night (after work) and so the detail isn't that great. Tried my best to compensate the low light situation using a slow shutter speed.
Some good news.....spoke with the vendor today, who confirmed that all the parts are done and will ship tonight. I hope to have them back by this Friday!
nice, bet you were sad the whole time they were gone too.
More like....embarrased. Pulled up several times at different drive throughs and I could tell the attendant would look into the car and have this "what the heck happened to your dash board, dude" look on his/her face, but wouldn't say anything.
Been crazy at work these last few days. I'm hoping to be able to salvage the weekend so I can put everything back together.
good luck man, hope that airbag dont give you any trouble, makes me nervous thinkin about playin with that thing.
Yeah, plan to be really careful and meticulous because of the airbag. Plan to disconnect the battery overnight to ensure that there is no capacitive charge left in the SRS system. Also, vendor recommended that once everything is buttoned up to sit in the passenger side while powering up the vehicle, in the unlikely event that something causes the airbag to go off.
Parts came in late last week. I was able to put it all back together over the weekend.
If turned out REALLY nice, and the process has absolutely transformed the way the interior looks. Much richer look, especially with the steering wheel.
Putting it back together was simple. Even the steering wheel install was very straightforward.
The custom work around the 4WD switches turned out very nice as well. The seam around the switches is completely gone and the whole panel looks so much nicer.
Had the shift knob done as well, but my initial reaction is that its a bit overkill. I'm considering replacing the knob with a stock brown one from the SR5.
The instrument bezels look really nice against the wood backdrop. Additionally the painted 4WD switch looks really nice as well.
Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Will post pics as soon as I get some real daylight. Problem is I usually come home from work between 8:00pm - 9:00pm on the weekdays and so its really hard to get any daylight. I could take shots with artificial lighting, but it wouldn't do the end result any justice.
Alright....I thought it cruel to make you guys wait until the weekend, so I bit the bullet and took a couple of shots in the garage.
The color depicted by the pictures is completely off. The pictures make the color look orange. In reality, it is not orange at all, but a dark brown with a slight hint of cherry......the yellow incandescent light is what is causing the orange color.
Anyway here are a few shots. I will try and take a more fulsome set this weekend.
Thanks for posting, man! I'm interested, not now since I'm saving for moving, but in the near future. What about the cost, can you give us a ballpark?
Maybe the TRD shift knob would look better?
Not to sound bashful, but in all honesty those pictures do it no justice. I'll have more up over the weekend.
Don't want to quote cost because it really is unfair to the vendor. Prices and materials change and it not right for someone to demand a "price match" based on a job that might have been done 2 years prior. I'll say this, cost was between $500 & $1K....leave the rest to your imagination.
I'm trying to keep it a clean almost factory look. As such, I think the stock knob will work pretty well.

Wow that looks great . I'm drooling all over this. I'm going to PM you if you don't mind. It looks great in these pictures can't wait to see the the better pictures. I like the shift knob, kinda of ties everything in nicely not too over the top. I think the TRD shift knob would look out of place in that set-up against the wood dash look. I bet when people do see it they will ask "Was that a factory option?" Really looks like it belongs in there. Huge improvement over the silver dash.
