Default Seat belt chime issue...lets try again

After posting a question several weeks back on how to defeat the annoying seatbelt chime I got answers such as " have the dealer turn it off " ,to a solution that alters the seatbelt latch sensor ,to a creative device to fool the latch into thinking it's buckled (nice try but no thanks).

My dealers wont turn off the chime for free or otherwise.

I don't want to ruin my latch and cause an airbag malfunction.

I dont want to stick something goofy into the latch too "fool" the sensor, this keeps you from putting on the belt.

Please don't suggest any of these "solutions"

What I want is the physical location and wiring diagram of the chime circuit.Anybody have that or know where I can get it? Seems like a little snip of a wire would do the trick...or is there even any do it yourselfers on this Forum?

If you want to debate the immorality of not wearing seatbelts, please post it to the other worthless thread.Lets try to keep this thread on track of a wiring diagram and exact chime location and If you have attempted same.

THANKS !!

I agree with killing the bell. My wife removes hers to reach back to my sons car seat to give him water, snack or to change the DVD and it drive me nuts. It also takes her about 10 houses before she is organized and buckled regardless of how long we sit in the driveway. Other solutions don't work for me.

The 2007-present tundra chime is located in the gauge cluster. I quess the sequoia would be in the same location since it is the same platform. The pezio is part of the circuit board, I just stuffed some pieces of leather into the hole to keep the chime from moving, also put some tape over the holes for good measure.

That is a customizable feature that can be turned off by the dealer.

I had a dealer turn it off for me at no charge. several dealers either wanted to rip me off for what is a ten second effort while others wouldn't turn it off. After calling around, I found a dealer that would handle my request to turn the alarm off. He's now my new dealership for all service on my '08 Plat. Sequoia.

On my 06 Ram there's a key trick, believe it was turning the key to the #2 position then pushing the seatbelt release button three time then turning the key again (all within 10 seconds).

I take the ram to north padre island so having a chime is rather annoying.

I'm heading out to big bend in a few days so I'm going to try to figure out if toyo has a similar set up for their chime.

It is difficult to understand why Toyota would design this seat belt chime feature as optional, and then have most US dealers decide that they cannot disarm the chime for "legal" reasons. I do not think there is any state which requires a seat belt chime.

It seems like calling dealers and asking for the options mod to be done and getting an ok, bring it in would solve the problem.

None of the dealers I have called in SF Bay Area will do it - but this is Kalifornia.

Driver's side seatbelt chimes are required by federal law and dealers can not legally turn them off (not saying they won't, just that it's illegal). Passenger side seatbelt chimes are not specifically required and can be disabled legally. As you probably know, dealers are independent and full of misinformation, so it's not surprising that Toyota does not have total control over what their dealers decide to do or say.
